Let’s give them a place to call their own!
We are caring for 30 orphans ranging in age from 3 to 19. Though each child has a unique background and story, they all share the same desire for a home and family. Sadly, some of these children have recently been orphaned as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
We are presently leasing a few rooms on the outskirts of Kampala, yet the living conditions are far from ideal. The children are sharing a handful of beds and have to sleep on the floor due to the limited space - there is just one room for the boys and another for the girls.
The dream to give the children a safe place to live, was conceived the moment we first met them. Some days it seems daunting, however, we believe that every child deserves safety, an education, and love. We know our community will help us make this possible.
The budget for the whole project stands at $300,000, which includes the cost of the land, materials, labor, and initial plantings. The land spans just over 3 acres of fertile soil and we have started a small farm to be created with fruit trees, agricultural crops, and landscaping.
Our goal is to not only create a safe and secure compound for the children and their caregivers, but to also make it a haven for the local community. We envision this land being filled with blooming flowers and orchards, showcasing the best of land usage and farming methods, as well as offering employment opportunities and a bounty to share.
Let us make this dream come true and provide these children with a place to call their own.
